"Virtual" Banks
These banks are truly "virtual," existing only (or primarily) in the Internet.
They typically offer interest rates on checking that are higher than almost all brick & morter banks' money market rates.
Their latest feature is that they'll rebate (within limits) the gratuitous access fees most ATMs hit you with.
- Telebank is not flashy and competes on the basis of having better interest rates on its accounts.
- Wingspan Bank is slicker and makes a better impression.
